Related to the fact that Nicole changed after the accident in what concerned her father and her own life: You never know how STRONG you are until being strong is the only choice you have left.

Il s'agit d'un film qui traite la facon de vivre avec la mort. C'est l'histoire d'une cassure.Il y a un avant et un apres, un passe chalereux,heureux,familial,un present tourmente, une ville anesthesie et des familles amputees,un drame et un choc collectifs.Il existe dans ce film une vraie philosophie de vie,une conception de la societe,une valeur universelle qui prend la morale a rebours sans juger.L'AUTEUR DECOUPE MORCEUX DE TEMPS COMME UN PUZZLE.Le film a un fatalisme en soi,assumant l'accident plutot d'accuser.

The film provides a strong image of a community that torn apart and still frustrated by the anger of losing amost all the children in the bus accident. The lawyer wants the parents to point out someone guity for that and bring the person to court, in order to point their anger on someone and finally release it. He also does this from personal reasons, as a way of finding and blaming someone for his own problematic relation with his daughter.
The film is very well directed, with a lot of flashbacks on the main event - the accident. The story of the town combines very nicely with the story of the lawyer's family, his relation with the daughter.
We also have the theme of father - daughter relation. We could draw a parallel between the relation the girl in the wheelchair has with her father (which is deffinitely too close and over the limits of normality) and the relation of the lawyer and his daughter (which is too distant, despite the efforts he makes to improve it).
On the other hand, we gradually take part in the growing as an adult of Nicole. Surprisingly, she is more self-confident and powerful after she is in a wheelchair than she was before.

As I said when I first watch the movie, the whole scenary reminds me of the Cavnic road. The bus accident could have been something that i could visualize on many of my trips. I think the footage when the accident took place, and the whole drive up to the climax, the going underwater, it was amazingly shot. The struggle of Nicole for survival in a wheelchair, is not as deep as her guilt of being alive. this is what I realy felt watching the movie. The going forth and back it was very powerful, but the time map drawn after the movie, helped me get out of my time frame confusion.
