Not your average action film, but man! It was awesome!!!! English and French Canadian disputes.. As far as I'm concerned, I've got a better image of what goes on in Canada... I've read about it, but it was just theory... Now I actually see what they were talking about I had a good understanding of the reasons for animosities between the French speaking and English speaking Canadians... but not actual examples.
"When in Rome, do as the Romans do". I really like how they actually played by this rule. _________________ Michelle |

I must admit I was shocked! From the clipÄ I saw that body hanging there I told myself âIt cannot split! It is too predictable, and it wonât.â Well, it did, and I was shocked.
Bon cop, bad cop â very inspired title. One expects to hear both English and French being spoken. One also expects the âgoodâ cop to be French, and the âbadâ one to be English, but itâs the other way around. The English cop does it all by the book, while the French one tends to bend the rules.
I expected Therrienâs partner to have a direct connection with the victims. His motivation for killing is not strong/serious enoughâŠI mean plausible⊠(I am not saying one should kill if one has a strong motivation) But I am not a supporter of any team so I do not understand fans⊠fanaticsâŠ
Two famous comedians have minor supporting roles in the film; Québécois stand-up comic Louis-José Houde, and Canadian stand-up comic Rick Mercer.
Famous phrases are uttered by both English and French speakers, but not in their own language. Luc Therrien, dressed as a mascot, says in front of the mirror "Are you talkin' to me?"

And Iris shouts during sex âVive le QuĂ©bec libre". That was hilarious.
I think the movie was well balanced, meaning that none of the parts, anglophone and francophone, was shown in a brighter light than the other. |

| A film with a lot of humour and subtext (about the differences between the French and English in Canada). A great, relaxing film, one would deffinitely enjoy. It points out very nicely, in a humourous manner, the duality of Canada, it portraits the two regions almost as different countries, with different rules, not as two parts of a single country. The regions chosen are Quebec and Ontario, the most nationalist of all. |
