I managed to see the movie. Did the actors play rather poorly, or was it just me?
On the positive side, the movie receives a plus from me for the use of native language and for the general attempt to portray Inuit life and spirituality.
Next comment, please! |

Atanarjuat:The Fast Runner was shot on wide screen (16:9) digital beta cam (NTSC) transferred to 35 mm film through a "smooth motion" process with true film resolution at Digital Film Group, Vancouver.
I'm not sure what this means but after the next grammar film course I know we'll find out this, too.
The action takes place in the authentic atmosphere of a small community of nomadic Inuits. The authenticity is given by the use of natural materials like ice blocks, animal fur and skin, snow, rocks...and of course by the use of the Inuits' native language.
Regarding the amatorism of the producers and actors I think that this was their intention in order to present more precisely the wild, unique and challenging environment. It's very difficult to do simple things. |
